Hosted at the renowned entertainment, gaming and hospitality destination in Hollywood, Florida, the weekend featured a series of special events that raised more than $530,000 to benefit Jeter’s Turn 2 Foundation and its programs serving youth.
“It was an honor to come together for this unforgettable tournament in support of Turn 2,” Derek Jeter said. “In this milestone year for the Foundation, we’re grateful for the continued generosity of our partners and supporters, which allows us to inspire young people to ignite social change, excel in the classroom and reach their goals. We are proud to once again partner with Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood and are deeply grateful to our sponsors who helped bring this event to life.”
The festivities kicked off on Friday, May 15, with a cocktail reception. The event continued Saturday, May 16, with a high-energy blackjack tournament and viewing party, where the winner walked away with a $100,000 prize. Later that evening, guests gathered at The Guitar Hotel Pool, where nine-time GRAMMY Award-winning singer, songwriter, actress, producer and philanthropist Mary J. Blige delivered a standout performance. During the special event, Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood President Randy Morton also shared remarks, and presented Turn 2 with a $200,000 donation.
“Equipping young people with meaningful opportunities to grow, lead and make a positive difference is central to Turn 2’s mission,” said Sharlee Jeter, president of The Turn 2 Foundation. “As we mark our 30th anniversary this year, this weekend is especially significant, and the funds raised will enable us to expand our programs in South Florida while deepening our impact in the communities we serve. We’re thankful to Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, and to all those whose generosity drives our work forward.”
“It’s an honor to partner with Derek Jeter and the Turn 2 Foundation to help empower the next generation and advance programs making a lasting impact in our communities,” said Morton, president of Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood. “We’re proud to bring this experience to life at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood and support a mission that continues to drive meaningful change.”
Derek Jeter established The Turn 2 Foundation during his rookie year with the New York Yankees in 1996.
