2025 Kalamazoo Clinic recap

Derek Jeter’s Turn 2 Foundation and MLB host PLAY BALL event at Kalamazoo Central High School

Nearly 150 young people from various Kalamazoo-area youth organizations participated in a “PLAY BALL” event hosted jointly by Major League Baseball and Derek Jeter’s Turn 2 Foundation. The celebratory event featured Turn 2 Foundation President Sharlee Jeter and MLB Vice President of Baseball and Softball Development David James as special guests. The event featured youth from the Turn 2 Foundation’s Jeter’s Leaders program – which aims to empower high school age students through college preparation support, leadership development and social change projects – as guest instructors.

The introductory-level baseball and softball activities at this event are meant to encourage greater accessibility to the sport, while teaching life lessons and demonstrating the variety of ways in which the game can be played in almost any setting. This specific effort is a continuation of MLB’s broader “PLAY BALL” initiative. All participants will receive a FREE bat and ball set for play at home in addition to a commemorative PLAY BALL t-shirt.
