Kingham didn’t have much in his last start Thursday vs. the Mets, falling behind in the count then getting hit hard as he allowed six runs on seven hits in three-plus innings. He’s given up five runs over 12 innings in two starts vs. the Cubs in '18.

Quintana struggled with his command in his last outing, needing 51 pitches to get through the first inning against the Cardinals. He only lasted three innings in that outing. He'd been on a good roll before that outing, winning three in a row.

0-2, 9.28 ERA, 10 SO
Walker Lockett will make his second career start Saturday in place of Joey Lucchesi, who was scratched due to a stomach illness. Lockett was roughed up in his first start on June 1, when he allowed four runs in 3 2/3 innings vs. Cincinnati.
RHP
8-9, 4.07 ERA, 110 SO
If Hendricks could get through the first inning without giving up a run, he'd been in good shape. In his 22 starts so far, he's served up 21 runs, and 10 home runs. He did go seven innings in his last start, which was an improvement.

Padres @ Cubs
At Wrigley Field
LHP
5-6, 3.70 ERA, 87 SO
Left-hander Joey Lucchesi (5-6, 3.74 ERA) will start on Sunday after being scratched Saturday due to a stomach bug. He allowed a career high five runs in his last outing. His breaking ball wasn’t working and he relied too much on his fastball.
LHP
12-4, 3.44 ERA, 100 SO
Lester had some command issues in his last outing against the Pirates, in which he gave up four runs over five innings. He's 5-2 with a 2.97 ERA at Wrigley Field, so maybe being home will help. He beat the Padres on July 15 in San Diego.
