Carlos Gomez and a group of Rays fans celebrated coach Ozzie Timmons with cutouts of his face

On Saturday, the Rays defeated the A's, 7-5, but the focus for one section of fans at Tropicana Field was on someone who's not even a player. Well, we should be fair -- Rays first-base coach/pushup machine Ozzie Timmons did play for them back in 2000. However, he's mostly gotten to know fans as a longtime coach in the Rays' system prior to his promotion to manager Kevin Cash's staff this year.

Timmons has a birthday coming up on Sep. 18, so since the Rays will be on a road trip at the time, a group of season-ticket holders wanted to celebrate with him while he's in town. They brought "Happy birthday Ozzie" banners, but more importantly, they also made a mass print of cutouts featuring Timmons' smiling face:

They even brought birthday cupcakes!

Of course, the Rays' players weren't about to let the fans have all the fun. Carlos Gomez and Willy Adames got in on the action:

If that kind of goofy tribute doesn't yield at least a thumbs-up from Timmons, then we don't know what will.
