Today marks the second Friday the 13th of 2018, meaning that we're in for two times the spookiness and generally unfortunate shenanigans (or something; we're a little unclear on the mythology here). To help you ready yourself for this most inauspicious of holidays, here are 13 extremely unlucky moments from Major and Minor League games -- learn from them, lest you too find yourself conked on the head by a baseball. 1. Gerrit Cole encounters a resin bag malfunction Take cover:
(Cole should've known that no Pittsburgh starter is safe.) 2. Kevin Kiermaier gets catwalk'd "I got it I got it I got it I ... oh no."
3. Bryce Harper gets taken down by his own helmet The only thing that can stop Bryce is Bryce's very voluminous hair:
4. Peter Moylan can't find ball that's three inches to his left Why is it that whenever you're looking for something, it's always right under your nose?
5. Yadier Molina has a very sticky chest guard Relatedly:
6. Minor Leaguer fouls ball off roof, his own head Nick Zammarelli probably thought he was safe. Oh, if only he knew:
7. Turf Monster 1, Gregory Polanco 0 All Polanco had to do was catch this routine fly ball to keep the Pirates alive in the 12th inning against the Cubs. Wrigley had other ideas:
8. Who put that mound there?
9. Christian Vázquez meets Evan Gattis' bat What are the odds?
10. Chris Taylor attempts to throw with his elbow Baseballs are slippery:
11. Chad Qualls' hubris is his downfall Rule No. 1: Never celebrate.
12. Foul balls get hungry, too And they're coming for your nachos:
