After the slam, Springer celebrated in the dugout by giving his bat a grateful smooch, with an assist from teammate
Springer told MLB.com's Brian McTaggart that this was the same bat that he used to homer in the 2018 All-Star Game. He had never used it before and now has something good going with it, which Cole (his fellow All-Star) has teased, but endorsed.
"It's just a little thing between him and I," he said. "I figured I might as well keep hitting with it if I got a hit. He's making fun of me for it. It's a little funny thing."
