And for his next trick, Giancarlo Stanton smoked a double to the wall ... while breaking his bat

Over the years, Giancarlo Stanton has managed to amaze us in just about every way imaginable. He hits baseballs clear out of stadiums, he hits baseballs over entire buildings, he hits baseballs that threaten the very structural integrity of the Western Metal Supply Co. warehouse
But even Giancarlo -- even the man who cannot be properly contained by Statcast -- needs fully functioning equipment, right? Sure, he can do things previously thought impossible with a bat ... he still needs the bat, doesn't he? I mean, not even a cross between Zeus and Wolverine could--

Why yes, that is Stanton fighting off an inside fastball, breaking his bat, and still driving it off the base of the wall for a double in the first inning of Tuesday's 2-0 win over the Giants. And when you've finally picked your jaw up off the floor, get ready to do it again:

If it makes you feel any better, his teammates don't really know what to say anymore either. "I've never seen anything like that," Marlins pitcher Tom Koehler told MLB.com's Glenn Sattell. "That's a joke; that guy is so strong. The bat's not supposed to go 110 feet and the ball 370. It just doesn't make sense. I'm glad he's on our side."
Be sure to tune in next time, when Stanton just walks up to home plate with his bare hands and swats a ball into the Atlantic Ocean.
