The Yankees and Blue Jays were watched like a hawk by a literal hawk perched atop the foul pole

The Blue Jays and Yankees battled on Tuesday night in the Bronx, and the game took place under the watchful eyes of a hawk that just totally made Yankee Stadium his or her home for a few hours.

One could say, then, that the two AL East rivals were watched like a hawk, to use a popular idiom. But how many times do you see an idiom carried out in real life? That's neat.

Anyway, back to the hawk. Look at this majestic creature.

A quick social media search shows that this is not this hawk's first visit to Yankee Stadium, as it's been showing up here for a few days.

I'll take that to mean that this hawk, like many baseball fans, is excited to watch the Yankees swat dinger after dinger, which they're doing abundantly these days now that Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton have returned from the injured list.

Then again, a blue jay is a type of bird. Does this hawk, a venerable bird of prey, think there's an actual blue jay around for it to eat during this series?

Check back when the Orioles come back to town ... if the hawk's doing this then, we might be on to something ...
