Mike Foltynewicz loves pizza ... but hates toppings

It's been a breakout season for 26-year-old Braves right-hander Mike Foltynewicz, who made his first All-Star Game appearance this summer and is slated to start Game 1 of the NLDS against the Dodgers at 8:37 p.m. ET Thursday on MLB Network. Originally drafted by the Astros out of high school back in 2010, Foltynewicz was dealt to Atlanta before the 2015 season in a trade for Evan Gattis and has gradually developed into one of the more dynamic pitchers in the National League.
So what's Folty's secret to all his recent success? You may be able to trace it back to a very specific dietary habit from his days growing up in Illinois: eating pizza every night.
But unlike many pizza enthusiasts, Foltynewicz's pizza obsession does not extend beyond the plain cheese and tomato slice. With that in mind, rather than having him describe his ideal pizza toppings -- since he doesn't particularly like any topping -- we wanted to give Foltynewicz the opportunity to create the most disgusting pizza imaginable. We also asked about the origin of his affection for pizza, and how often he still eats it now as a Major Leaguer.
Check out the video at the top of the page to hear more, and then enjoy the ultimate pizza anthem:
