Mike Zunino hit the roof with a fly ball and set off mass confusion at Minute Maid Park

In the top of the fifth inning of the Mariners' 5-2 loss to the Astros on Friday night, Seattle catcher Mike Zunino hit a towering fly ball down the left-field line ... that appeared to be swallowed by the heavens and/or Minute Maid Park:

In reality, the ball had hit off a steel girder on the roof -- and for a few brief moments, complete chaos reigned. Zunino continued to round the bases, while Alex Bregman ended up with the ball in his glove:

Eventually, the umpiring crew got together to consult the ground rules: If a ball hits the Minute Maid Park roof in foul territory, it's a foul ball. Zunino was sent back to the plate, and two pitches later, he struck out.
