Todd Frazier channeled old friend Derek Jeter with a falling catch into the stands

Mets third baseman Todd Frazier is never one to shy away from a tough play when an out is on the line. He proved that dedication during a 4-2 win on Monday night against the Dodgers, when he fell into the stands along the third-base line in foul territory to "catch" a popup hit by Alex Verdugo:

Who cares about bruises when you can get an out?
It was an excellent effort by Frazier and one that called to mind a similar play made by Derek Jeter. No, not the dive against the Red Sox in 2004. Instead, flash back to Game 5 of the 2001 American League Division Series against the A's:

The reckless abandon, the reach to the sky with the left hand, the tumble with the feet flying high -- it's all there and even more apparent when the plays are put side-to-side:

Clearly, the two All-Stars discussed defense when they met on the field at Yankee Stadium during Frazier's Little League days in 1998.
