USWNT stars Samantha Mewis and Alyssa Naeher threw strikes at Fenway Park
The United States women's national soccer team continued its victory lap on Friday night, as a little less than a week after winning the FIFA Women's World Cup, midfielder Samantha Mewis (from nearby Weymouth, Mass.) and goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher (from Bridgeport, CT.) had a tall task on their hands: throwing a ceremonial first pitch at Fenway Park.
Mewis was obviously pretty excited about the honor:

When it was time to do the deed, which took place minutes before Friday's Dodgers-Red Sox game, the pair rose to the task -- no real surprise, given what they've accomplished in the past few weeks -- and tossed out some pitches to Chris Sale and Rick Porcello:

And kudos to Mewis and Naeher for a successful trip to Fenway that didn't include the denting of any iconic trophies ...
