VIOLENCE PREVENTION PROGRAMS

Strike Out Violence Day

The Giants, Giants Community Fund and Futures Without Violence will host the annual Strike Out Violence Day on Sunday, September 4 at Oracle Park. The day is dedicated to the importance of working together to stop violence in our communities and homes.

Throughout the game, the Giants will recognize the work and efforts of local community leaders and organizations with a focus on “Choosing Courage”. Junior Giants Strike Out Bullying Contest winners will be honored during the Community Spotlight at the game. The charitable half of the Giants Community Fund’s 50/50 Raffle will benefit La Casa de las Madres, which offers unwavering support for survivors of domestic violence and their families.

Junior Giants Strike Out Violence Programs

The Giants Community Fund created the following programs to address violence prevention needs in the Junior Giants communities. These programs provide a forum for participants to discuss methods of preventing violence in their neighborhoods.

Junior Giants Speakers Program

In an effort to address violence in our communities, the Giants Community Fund established the Junior Giants Violence Prevention Speaker's Program. Youth advocate and comedian Michael Pritchard and representatives from Soul Shoppe annually visit Junior Giants leagues to speak with kids, coaches and parents about respect, gang prevention and anti-bullying messages.

Strike Out Bullying Contest

Junior Giants Strike Out Bullying Contest is an opportunity for kids to artistically express what their community would look like if it was violence free. Kids can submit a poem, song, or piece of art that communicates this message. The contest winners are recognized during the Strike Out Violence day pre game ceremony.
