Orlando Cepeda Academy

The Giants Community Fund Academy has entered a new chapter as the Orlando Cepeda Academy, honoring the legacy of Giants legend and Hall of Famer Orlando Cepeda.

Established in 2022 in partnership with the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department, the Academy provides free, competitive baseball and softball to middle and high school-aged youth in San Francisco’s under-resourced communities. The program aims to strengthen diversity in the game through pathways both on the field and into front offices across professional sports.

Fall Registration Opens: August 10, 2026

Season Dates: September 12 - October 31 | Saturdays at Crocker Amazon Park

Honoring Orlando Cepeda

Orlando Cepeda was more than a Giants legend—he was a cherished friend of the Giants Community Fund.

A Hall of Famer known as “The Baby Bull,” Cepeda was celebrated for his excellence on the field and his lasting impact on the game of baseball. Off the field, he was equally beloved for his commitment to humanitarian and community initiatives, serving as a longtime member of the Giants Community Fund Advisory Board.

He regularly attended Giants Community Fund events, spoke passionately about the importance of investing in young people and supported the work of our staff with genuine warmth and encouragement.

The Orlando Cepeda Academy proudly carries forward that legacy.

Participation is 100% free, and the Giants Community Fund provides each player with the resources they need to play, including:
