Matt Andriese's instinctive, no-look behind-the-back grab came at a perfect time for the D-backs
Friday night's D-backs-Dodgers game in Los Angeles lasted six hours, five minutes, spanning 13 innings and the cancellation of the Dodgers' postgame fireworks display. It was a long night of baseball, ultimately won by Arizona, 5-4.
It very well could have ended in the 10th inning, though. Matt Andriese was facing A.J. Pollock with the bases loaded and two outs. Pollock came to the plate 3-for-4 with his first Dodgers homer and 3 RBIs, looking for an exclamation point on a great night.
Andriese, though -- or, specifically, his instinct and intuition on the hill -- speared a comebacker with a no-look effort and kept the game tied.
You can't teach that.
