Andrelton Simmons and Albert Pujols shared a laugh after colliding and crashing down to the mound together
Few things are more important on the field than communication -- especially when it comes to popups on the infield. Often, multiple players come charging in, headed in the general direction of the falling baseball.
This scenario played out in the sixth inning of the Angels' 2-1 loss to the Yankees on Friday night at Yankee Stadium when Gary Sanchez lofted a popup on the infield. Shortstop Andrelton Simmons and first baseman Albert Pujols both wanted to make the play, naturally, and their respective momentum brought them right into each other. Literally.
But their reaction was perfect:
A day without laughter is a day wasted, indeed.
