D-backs and Honeywell Futureshaper Robotics Program

The Arizona Diamondbacks and Honeywell are proud to support STEM learning and robotics in Arizona through the D-backs and Honeywell Futureshaper Robotics Program. The program is comprised of initiatives that provide resources and guidance for new and established robotics programs at every level. The fourth annual D-backs and Honeywell Futureshaper Robotics Competition took place on September 18, 2025, at Chase Field, bringing students and teams together for a fun day of innovation and hands-on STEM learning. Teams were challenged to design and build robots capable of competing in baseball inspired activities, including a home run derby, fielding, and pitching challenge.

Guided by the shared vision of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Honeywell, the competition focus is to make robotics affordable and accessible for schools. Each participating team received a VEX V5 Starter Kit, inertial sensor, and cables to support their robot build and competition readiness.

Recognizing their skill, creativity, and teamwork throughout the competition, each participant earned a minimum of $500 to support their school’s robotics program. Top-performing teams were awarded additional grants, with $2,000 for first place, $1,500 for second place, and $1,000 for third place.

The Arizona Robotics League supported by the Arizona Diamondbacks and Honeywell is an offseason FIRST Robotics Competition Series designed to provide training and experience for major competitions. The program is run locally by FRC498, the Cobra Commanders. The Arizona Robotics League is a great way to gain experience for junior members prior to major competitions.
