Camp Philosophy

Some kids will come to camp who have never played ball before, and some will come to camp who may one day play at Progressive Field. Some kids will come to meet a Guardians player and others to become a Guardians player. Regardless, we owe all players the camp experience of a lifetime, and we won't settle for anything less. You can count on it.

At Guardians Youth Summer Camps, we make it a priority to keep the younger players and older players separated by age. However, not all players of the same age have equal ability. For safety reasons and because it facilitates the best learning environment, players will be grouped by age and ability. These "teams" will then stay together throughout the week with the same coach. We have found that the bonds created between teammates and their primary coach is one of the truly special dynamics at camp. At our instructors’ discretion, safety balls, as well as whiffle balls and bats will be used liberally at camp. Of course, we will use regulation baseballs, but fear-free confidence is a critical foundation for fun and learning success.

This is the most important thing to understand about the Guardians Youth Summer Camps: it doesn't matter if your athlete is six and picking up a bat for the first time or 14 and a stud shortstop for the area’s top travel team. This camp will profoundly improve each player's ability to play the game. The camper would have to sleepwalk through the week to not be a better ballplayer on Friday than he or she was on Monday.

It’s true that we welcome players of every skill and experience level. It’s also true that we put a high premium on having fun. However, this is an honest-to-goodness baseball/softball camp and not a daycare service. Please keep that in mind when deciding to sign your young player up.

Parents know that when you find a great teacher, you grab him or her and hang on for dear life. They can be game changers in our kids' lives. Great baseball and softball coaches are the same. That's why we carefully select, screen, train and monitor our instructors, then we encourage them to unleash all the passion and creativity they can muster. Each camp day for your child should be a masterpiece. We promise the men and women entrusted with the training of your kids are as good as they come. * Every instructor will undergo a thorough background check and will be “U.S. Center for SafeSport Certified” as required by Major League Baseball. *

Pardon our boasting, but there isn't much the Cleveland Guardians don't know about baseball. The coaches we line up in front of your young travel player are expert baseball and softball instructors. There is no reason why a travel player should shy away from what promises to be an extraordinary camp and experience. We understand that travel ballplayers’ schedules can be hectic in the summer, but give us one week of your summer and it will pay off in that night’s game or next weekend’s big tourney.
Amazing Guardians Experience

Every camp will have a guest appearance by a current or former Guardians player, or current Guardians minor league prospect. Please note that the Guardians will select the player to appear at camp depending on their availability. That player may not be pictured here.

Every participant will receive two tickets to one of several 2025 Guardians games. The Camper Reunion Games provide a great chance to reunite with new friends from camp.

If you’re going to train like a Major Leaguer, you might as well dress like one. On Monday morning each athlete will receive an MLB quality Guardians jersey, pants, belt and cap.

Kids love to compete. Every camper will participate in a baseball of softball skills competition. At the end of each camp, we will announce the top 3 winners from each age group. If your score is in the top 10 of all camps, your score will be posted online (updated after each camp week). After the last camp, the top 10 scorers from each age group from the entire summer will be invited to the Champions Day finals. As a bonus, the top three finishers in each grade group from Champions Day will be honored on-field prior to a 2025 Guardians game.

Much of what happens in the baseball/softball swing happens too fast to be tracked by the human eye. With the help of video analysis, we can break down the swing frame by frame to provide feedback as you work through the offseason. With the 8–10-minute video analysis, your camper will be side-by-side with a current Guardians player for the video comparison. There will be a $50 additional fee for this service. Drill videos will be included.
