It's safe to say that Nolan Schubart's power has transferred to the pro game.
Already having surpassed the 30-homer mark, the Guardians’ No. 24 prospect went yard two more times in Double-A Akron’s 7-4 victory over Somerset on Sunday at TD Bank Park. Schubart has homered seven times in his past nine games.
Schubart has punished a lot of fastballs in 2026. Entering Sunday, the first baseman sported a .670 slugging percentage and 1.092 OPS against heaters this season, per Synergy.
He's also had a lot of success against right-handers this season, posting a 1.032 OPS with 42 extra-base hits in 299 total at-bats.
The 22-year-old showed off both these attributes on Sunday.
In the fourth inning, against right-hander Bryce Cunningham (NYY No. 9), Schubart launched a homer to right-center field off the bat at 110.6 mph, per the ballpark's Trackman device. That one was a first-pitch changeup.
In the eighth with a runner on first, Schubart dropped the barrel on a 1-0 cut fastball in the bottom of the zone from righty Yerry Rodríguez and rattled it off the scoreboard. It was his third multihomer game of the season and his 12th long ball at the Double-A level.

A third-round pick in the 2025 Draft, the Oklahoma State product fell just two hits shy of the Big 12 Conference triple crown as a sophomore before finishing his college career with 59 homers and a 1.169 OPS.
And that's already showing up in the pro game. Among qualified hitters in the Guardians system, Schubart ranks in the top five in home runs (32, first), RBIs (99, first), slugging percentage (.551, second), extra base hits (50, third), OPS (.954, second) and walks (97, second)

While Schubart does have concerns with swing-and-miss -- his 169 strikeouts are second-most in the system this season -- his offensive production has literally popped.
