PHILADELPHIA -- Phillies outfielder Aaron Altherr said there is no reason to be alarmed.
But Altherr did not start Saturday night's game against the Nationals at Citizens Bank Park because of soreness in his left wrist. Altherr rolled the wrist trying to make a catch in Friday night's game. Altherr is being cautious because he tore the tendon in the same wrist in March 2016, which required surgery.
"I'm fine," he said.
The Phillies hate to lose Altherr, even for a game. He is hitting .328 (21-for-64) with seven doubles, three home runs, 11 RBIs and a .989 OPS in 22 games.
"I'll still be good by the time I get back," Altherr said.
Brock Stassi started in left field in Altherr's place.
"[Altherr] thought a day would be good for him, which is fine," manager Pete Mackanin said. "Whether he is available to pinch-hit or not, remains to be seen, but I would assume that he is, unless he tells me otherwise."
