SEATTLE -- Since being acquired from the Orioles in exchange for cash in April, right-hander Parker Bridwell has pitched in 12 games for the Angels. They've won all but one of them, a testament to the surprising consistency and effectiveness Bridwell has brought to Los Angeles' rotation this season.
On Sunday, the 26-year-old rookie delivered yet again, allowing one run over six innings to help the Angels complete a four-game sweep of the Mariners with a 4-2 victory at Safeco Field.
Bridwell yielded four hits with one walk and two strikeouts, while lowering his ERA to 2.88 and winning his fifth straight decision. He has now pitched at least six innings and allowed two or fewer runs in six of his last seven starts.

"He's given us a shot in the arm," first baseman C.J. Cron said. "He's kind of been that stopper for us. Every time he goes out, he's going to give us some solid innings, and that's kind of what we need. He's done a great job, and he continues to impress."
The Mariners scored their lone run against Bridwell in the first inning after Yonder Alonso walked, advanced to third on Robinson Cano's double and scored on Nelson Cruz's sacrifice fly to give Seattle a 1-0 lead. Bridwell then worked around leadoff singles in each of his final three innings of work to keep the Mariners off the board the rest of the afternoon.
"When a guy gets on and there are no outs, you kind of buckle down a little more and tell yourself you've got to execute better pitches," Bridwell said. "Luckily, I was able to execute some pitches with runners on and get key outs."

Since becoming a regular starter in June, Bridwell has helped stabilize the Angels' rotation, which has been ravaged by injuries this season. The Angels currently have five starters -- Garrett Richards, Andrew Heaney, Matthew Shoemaker, Nick Tropeano and Alex Meyer -- on the disabled list, and Tyler Skaggs missed three months with an oblique injury.
Despite their injury woes, the Angels have now won 12 of their last 16 games, maintaining their half-game lead over the Twins for the second American League Wild Card spot.
"Honestly, it couldn't happen at a better time," Bridwell said. "With the Wild Card going the way it is, we've come along and started to get hot at the right time."
