Monday's top AFL prospect performers

October 11th, 2022

Here’s a look at Monday’s top performers in the Arizona Fall League from each team’s Top 30 Prospects list.

Cardinals: Jordan Walker, OF (MLB No. 6), Salt River Rafters
Connor Thomas, LHP (No. 24), Salt River Rafters
Walker swatted his second home run of the fall as part of a multihit effort in Salt River’s 8-3 loss to Glendale. St. Louis’ top prospect saw two sliders before taking the third one and parking it over the fence in left-center field for a solo dinger to open up the scoring. The homer traveled 438 feet and was smoked at 108 mph off the bat. Walker worked a long at-bat for his second hit in the eighth, sharply singling to the left side on the seventh pitch he saw before coming around to score on a sacrifice fly.

Thomas continued his strong Fall League start with five scoreless frames for the Rafters, working around six hits and a walk while striking out five. The southpaw escaped an early bases-loaded jam in the first frame and dealt with at least one baserunner in every inning, but he was able to evade trouble and hold Glendale scoreless in his outing. The 24-year-old has allowed one earned run in his first 8 2/3 innings of work.

Yankees: Jasson Domínguez, OF (MLB No. 37), Mesa Solar Sox
Domínguez came into the AFL wanting to improve on all aspects of his game, and so far, that’s exactly what the 19-year-old has done. The Yankees’ second-ranked prospect collected two hits -- a single and a double -- walked twice and swiped a bag in Mesa’s 11-8 loss to Peoria. In his first four games, Domínguez has collected four hits, six walks and three steals. More »

Brewers: Jeferson Quero, C (No. 7), Glendale Desert Dogs
Quero did it all in Glendale’s victory, recording four hits and throwing out two would-be base stealers from behind the dish. The backstop, who just celebrated his 20th birthday on Oct. 8, roped two doubles and notched two RBIs, including the first run of the game for the Desert Dogs in the sixth inning. More »

Nationals: Drew Millas, C (No. 30), Peoria Javelinas
Millas continued his slugging ways with a three-hit, four-RBI performance in Peoria’s win, falling a triple shy of the cycle. The catcher used all fields on his base knocks, smacking a single to right field in the first, a two-run double to center in the fifth and a solo homer -- his second of the fall -- to left. With eight RBIs in just three Fall League contests, he’s already surpassed his RBI total of five from 17 AFL games in 2021. He’s yet to strike out in 13 at-bats.

Rangers: Kumar Rocker, RHP (No. 8), Surprise Saguaros
In his second AFL outing, Rocker pitched two scoreless frames, striking out two and walking two while allowing just one hit. The 22-year-old fired 18 of his 32 pitches for strikes and notched his first K to escape a two-on, two-out jam in the first frame. He allowed a leadoff walk in the second but nothing more, fanning the last batter he faced. He has yet to allow a run in three AFL innings. More »
