Cotton undergoes Tommy John surgery

The Oakland A's announced that right-handed pitcher underwent successful ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction surgery today at Trinity Park Surgery Center in Arlington, Texas. The surgery was performed by Dr. Keith Meister. Cotton will remain in Arlington until Saturday and will return to Oakland on Sunday to begin his rehab process.
Cotton was 0-1 with a 3.75 ERA in four games, including three starts, this spring. He held the opposition to a .195 batting average and had 16 strikeouts in 12.0 innings. The 26-year-old right-hander went 9-10 with a 5.58 ERA in 24 starts over two stints with the A's last year.
