Gattis launched a two-run home run a projected 426 feet, ripped an RBI single to left and walked with the bases loaded in the ninth to tack on four more insurance runs. The Astros finished off a 6-1 road trip to improve to a Major League-best 52-25.

Houston starting pitcher , who filled in for Brad Peacock (paternity list), lasted only two innings and allowed two runs on two hits, with four walks and three strikeouts. But , , Will Harris and Luke Gregerson combined to blank the Mariners the rest of the way.
Pushed to limit, Astros relievers respond
"Obviously, it's big to get a series win against these guys on the road the way they've been playing," Astros manager A.J. Hinch said. "We needed all of those [relievers] to step up. The versatility of our 'pen has been talked about over and over again. It was in full effect again. All those guys came in and did a nice job stretching themselves to their limitations."

hit a slicing line drive to left-center field with the bases loaded and two outs in the second, scoring two runs, but Mitch Haniger was thrown out at the plate to end the inning. That's all the Mariners could muster, as Seattle went 2-for-9 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base.
"I think our guys were trying to make adjustments, stay on the offspeed pitches there," Mariners manager Scott Servais said. "It just wasn't our day offensively. And you're going to have those once in a while."
Seattle starter was handed the loss after giving up four runs over 7 1/3 innings, all of which came in the fourth.
"For the most part, he threw the ball well. It's just the one inning got him and he gave up four of his five hits in that one inning," Servais said. "Disappointing ballgame today. I thought early we really had their starter on the ropes, Martes, and we really couldn't cash in."
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Offensive eruption: After Miranda allowed three straight hits to start the fourth, he appeared to settle down by inducing an easy groundout and a popout to first. But Gurriel thwarted any hope of limited damage for Miranda, as he crushed a 3-2 fastball for a go-ahead homer and a 4-2 lead. The Statcast™-projected 420-foot homer was Gurriel's second longest of the season.

Upon further review: The Mariners challenged the out call on Haniger at the plate in the second inning following Cano's two-run double. After the replay review, crew chief Angel Hernandez initially signaled safe and the Mariners celebrated, but he soon corrected the call to out, which caused confusion on the field.
"We had the play at the plate, which I'm shocked was not overturned," Servais said. "It was pretty clear to me." More >
