Astros shuffle rotation for set against Angels

April 17th, 2017

HOUSTON -- Sunday's rainout at Oakland has altered the Astros' rotation for their four-game series with the Angels, which opened on Monday night at Minute Maid Park.
Right-hander Joe Musgrove is being pushed back a day and is scheduled to start on Tuesday. Left-hander will start on regular rest on Wednesday and will pitch on regular rest in Thursday's finale.
Mike Fiers will be pushed back a day to Friday for the opener of a three-game series against the Rays at Tropicana Field.
Astros manager A.J. Hinch said it may not be advantageous to have the extra day with the postponement on Sunday.
"I'm not sure it's an advantage as much as it makes you make a decision on how you're going to match your guys up," Hinch said. "Ideally, you inconvenience the least amount of guys that you can.
"[Charlie Morton] was pushed back. Musgrove was going to be pushed back. Keeping Keuchel and McCullers on regular rest is an advantage for both of them. Mike Fiers takes it for the team and will get the biggest extended rest from his outing in Seattle."
Hinch said he may use Fiers out of the bullpen in the next day or so if necessary. Fiers last pitched on April 12 at Seattle.
With the scheduled off-day last Thursday, mixed with Sunday's postponement, there's been extra rest for the Astros' starting pitchers.
