CHICAGO -- White Sox outfielder Avisaíl García should be going to Triple-A Charlotte this weekend to begin an injury rehab assignment and test his sprained right knee. He was placed on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to Aug. 7.
"He should be going out here in the next couple of days," White Sox manager Robin Ventura said. "He looks fine. In Cleveland, he was doing everything.
"It's good to see him get out there and run and not feel any pain and there's no swelling or anything like that. It would be nice to get him back and swinging a bat."
Garcia was hitting .333 in August with three homers and six RBIs over 17 plate appearances.
Home is where the games are
The White Sox began a three-team, nine-game homestand on Friday night at U.S. Cellular Filed. The team has 42 games remaining, with 26 at home, giving the South Siders a remote postseason hope.
"That's huge. It felt like we've been gone a long time and it has been," White Sox third baseman Todd Frazier said. "Ten days is a good amount of time on the road. We've got to win series and we've got to start sweeping teams.
"There's no other way around it. The hitters have to keep putting up runs and the pitchers have to keep pitching lights-out. Hopefully we'll make a push. We're 10 games out of the Wild Card and I think 11 or 12 out of first place. But at the same time, we're one big run away. We still talk about it now and we've seen it done before with a little under a month and a half. You just have to win, that's all, at all costs."
Rough return for Fulmer
Carson Fulmer struggled in his return to the Minors and in his Charlotte debut during the first game of a doubleheader Friday. Fulmer, who is being stretched out to start for the White Sox in September, allowed six runs on five hits and two walks in one inning, without recording a strikeout during a 7-5 loss to Gwinnett. Fulmer threw 17 of his 31 pitches for strikes.

Minor Leaguer suspended
Telvin Nash, a first baseman for Class A Advanced Winston-Salem, received a 50-game suspension without pay after testing positive for amphetamine, a stimulant in violation of the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. The suspension was announced Friday and is effective immediately.
Nash, 25, was hitting .255 with 11 homers and 38 RBIs for the Dash, his first year in the White Sox system.
