Bellinger reached the mark in his 401st game, becoming the fastest player in Dodgers history to hit the milestone, surpassing Mike Piazza, who hit his 100th in his 422nd game.
“It’s pretty special,” said Bellinger. “I didn’t know it was my 100th until I was told in the dugout afterward. I’m blessed and hope I can keep going.”
Bellinger’s two-run blast to center field off Eric Lauer was his 36th of the season and brought his RBI total to 85. It gave the Dodgers a 2-1 lead in the MLB debut of starter Dustin May.
Bellinger also homered against San Diego in Thursday night’s 8-2 win. He’s hit 22 of his home runs this year at Dodger Stadium.
“I think you just have extra adrenaline playing at home,” he said. “We just get so many fans at home and they’re loud and it’s a great feeling to come to this park every day and play.”
