• First-time caller: Gibbons dials Toronto radio show
"We've been coming up short on wins, but the guys have been playing some pretty good ball," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said. "We're in every game. Of course, Marco, just when you know you've got a depleted bullpen. He has to be the most underrated pitcher in the game. Against a good-hitting, hot team, too. But I've seen him do it way too many times for it to be a fluke."

Yankees starter took his second loss, charged with a season-high five runs on eight hits in 5 2/3 innings.
"My fastball command wasn't there," Severino said. "My slider wasn't there, too. I was trying to fight to keep the game to two runs and give the team a chance to win. I was battling over there."

QUOTABLE
"I felt good about the two runs, but that's probably about the 10th time he has robbed me of a hit. A little [angry], a little happy, a little bit of both." -- Goins, on his two-run sacrifice fly that likely would have been a double if not for Ellsbury's spectacular play
