Crawford sits for 3rd straight with sore knee

September 2nd, 2018

SAN FRANCISCO -- Shortstop 's lingering left knee soreness kept him out of the Giants' lineup Sunday for the third game in a row.
Giants manager Bruce Bochy declined to guess when Crawford will start his next game.
"He bruised [the knee] up pretty good," Bochy said.
As is the case with most key performers, Crawford's absence underscores the importance of his presence. The three-time Gold Glove Award winner averaged a team-high 148 games per year throughout his previous six full seasons, and he'll likely lead the club in games played for the second year in a row. Crawford entered Sunday having appeared in 129 games; right fielder had played in 130 when he was traded to the Yankees last Friday.
replaced Crawford at shortstop for the third consecutive game.
• With September's roster expansion to 40 players, the Giants recalled utility man from Triple-A Sacramento for the fifth time this season. Entering Sunday, Tomlinson hit .226 in 53 games with the Giants, including 27 starts.
