ATLANTA -- There was a festive feel in the SunTrust Park plaza on Tuesday night, as the Braves welcomed Javy Lopez, Eddie Perez and some team dignitaries together to announce the launch of Los Bravos, a platform aimed toward extending the outreach to Atlanta's Latino community.
"It provides a platform for us to go out into the marketplace and say we are supporting and embracing the Latino community throughout metro Atlanta," Braves president of business Derek Schiller said. "We'll have a bunch of community and marketing initiatives."
After providing a glimpse of some of the T-shirts and hats that will be available via the merchandising aspect of this platform, the Braves had Perez and Lopez model the Los Bravos jerseys that the team will wear during its Sept. 17 game against the Mets to help celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.
"That will be a fantastic day in Braves history," Schiller said.
Along with expanding the content that will be translated from braves.com to LosBravosbeisbol.com, the Braves expand the Spanish-language material available on Facebook (Facebook.com/bravosdeatlanta) and Twitter (@LosBravos).

The Braves will produce in-language advertising featuring current and former Latino Braves players. This initiative will be supported by LaMejor, which will serve as the official broadcast partner of Los Bravos and provide a Spanish-speaking broadcast of every Sunday game throughout the regular season. Through Los Bravos, the Braves have also partnered with Univision, Telemundo and El Patron. Univision will serve as the presenting sponsor of their studio located at Plaza Fiesta, which was recently named Los Bravos Studio.
As the Braves participate in more community endeavors within the Hispanic community, they will focus on volunteer opportunities and other platforms made possible with support from community partners such as Plaza Fiesta, the Latin American Association of Atlanta, the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Hispanic Corporate Council.
