Braves christen new park with 1st-inning rally

ATLANTA -- As Chipper Jones reminisced about playing the first game in Turner Field's history, he discussed how he and his Braves teammates aimed to gain an entry into the record books by notching one of the stadium's firsts.
It didn't take and long to etch their names into SunTrust Park lore, as they recorded a couple of the new Braves home's firsts during a two-run first inning that helped the Braves gain an early lead against the Padres in Friday night's 5-2 win.
After opened Atlanta's new ballpark by keeping the Padres scoreless in the top of the first, Inciarte led off the bottom half of the inning with an infield single, which will forever be recognized as the first hit recorded at SunTrust Park.

The Braves outfielder beat the throw to first base after he looped a soft liner that skipped off the dirt just before a slightly shaded third baseman ranged to his right to snare the baseball.
Freddie Freeman followed with a double -- the stadium's first extra-base hit -- and Markakis drove in the first runs when he followed with a double of his own off the right-center-field wall.
