It's not a secret that when Touki Toussaint is right he can miss bats with the best of them.
That was the case on Friday, as the Braves' No. 11 prospect matched his career highs with 11 strikeouts in eight innings as he recorded his second straight double-digit strikeout performance for Class A Advanced Florida.
Toussaint, 21, won for the first time in four starts, allowing one earned run on three hits in a 4-1 victory against St. Lucie. More significant was that the right-hander did not issue a walk in the outing, marking just the second time he's done so in 18 starts this season. He was consistently around the zone too, throwing 72 of his 105 pitches for strikes.
In his previous start for the Fire Frogs, Toussaint punched out 10 batters over seven innings. He's fanned 115 batters in 100 1/3 innings (10.0 K/9) this season, and he's on pace to blow well past the career-high of 128 strikeouts he posted last year over 132 1/3 frames with Class A Rome.

• No. 10 overall prospect Brendan Rodgers (Rockies' No. 1) rebounded from an 0-for-3 showing in Game 1 of Double-A Hartford's doubleheader sweep against Portland to go 3-for-5 with a solo home run, two doubles and three runs scored in the nightcap. The homer was his fifth since joining Hartford as well as his 17th this season, while the three-extra-base-hit effort improved his overall slash line to .350/.388/.614. Right-hander Ryan Castellani (No. 3) was dominant for the Yard Goats in the opener, allowing three hits and fanning six in a seven-inning shutout.

• In his second game back with Class A Advanced Modesto, No. 20 overall prospect Kyle Lewis (Mariners' No. 1) connected on a three-run homer before finishing 2-for-5. Prior to joining the Nuts, the 22-year-old outfielder batted .263/.348/.447 with four extra-base hits during 11 rehab games in the Rookie Arizona League. It was nearly one year ago that Lewis, the 11th overall pick in the 2016 Draft, tore his ACL along with the medial and lateral meniscuses in his right knee during a home-plate collision on July 19.
• No. 45 overall prospectYohander Mendez (Rangers' No. 2) matched his season high in strikeouts as he fanned nine over seven scoreless innings to pace Double-A Frisco in a 1-0 shutout against San Antonio. The 22-year-old lefty allowed four hits, walked two and generated nine ground-ball outs, with 64 of his 94 pitches going for strikes in the outing. He's piled up 17 strikeouts while permitting one earned run in his last two starts for the RoughRiders.

• No. 46 overall prospect Triston McKenzie (Indians' No. 2) notched his fourth double-digit strikeout performance in his last 13 starts for Class A Advanced Lynchburg. Tossing seven strong innings, the 19-year-old righty struck out 10 while allowing two earned runs on six hits and two walks. He's struck out 30 over his last three starts to push his season strikeout total to 134, tying him for second among all Minor League hurlers, while his ERA sits a 2.86 after Friday's performance.
• No. 52 overall prospect Sean Reid-Foley (Blue Jays' No. 2) matched his career high with 12 strikeouts while tossing 6 2/3 innings of one-run ball en route to his second straight win for Double-A New Hampshire. The 21-year-old right-hander scattered four hits and walked two in what was one of his better starts this season.

• No. 95 overall prospect Jack Flaherty (Cardinals' No. 5) scattered four hits and struck out nine over 6 1/3 scoreless innings as Triple-A Memphis shut out Las Vegas, 6-0. It was the third straight outing with one or fewer earned runs for the 21-year-old right-hander, who's pitched to a 3.24 ERA with 46 strikeouts in 41 2/3 frames (eight starts) since his promotion to the Minors' highest level.

• Orioles No. 7 prospect Austin Hays went 2-for-5 with a home run, a double and three RBIs to lead Double-A Bowie in a win against Altoona. The homer was his seventh in 26 games in the Eastern League, and he's now gone deep 23 times in 90 contests this season. Overall, the 22-year-old outfielder has slashed .324/.358/.587 with 49 extra-base hits and 64 RBIs across two levels in his first full professional season.
