Chourio extends hit streak with 3-hit, 3-RBI performance in LVBP

November 13th, 2023

The experience has moved to Venezuela for the winter, but his on-field dominance remains unchanged.

Sunday was yet another demonstration of this when MLB's No. 2 prospect went 3-for-5 with a double, a triple and three RBIs in Aguilas Del Zulia's 6-2 win over Navegantes Del Magallanes.

The game was Chourio's eighth consecutive contest in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League with a knock, a span in which the outfielder has slashed .526/.697/1.223 and posted five multhit performances. The streak started on Nov. 2 with a 1-for-4 night, and he then followed it up with his first jack of the winter on Nov. 4.

The top Brewers prospect has the potential to make an impact in every aspect of the game. At the dish, he has displayed both contact and power, with five of his 18 hits going for extra bases. In the field, Chourio has a flawless 1.000 fielding percentage and one outfield assist to his name.

Chourio has slashed .472/.565/1.037 in 12 games overall, marks that each rank within the circuit's top six. The Venezuela native spent a majority of the Minor League regular season with Double-A Biloxi before a six-game cup of coffee with Triple-A Nashville in September. While the sample size was small, Chourio's Triple-A production was a teaser to his Winter League so far. In those six games, as the youngest player in the league, Chourio tallied seven hits -- three doubles -- and two walks.

Chourio has succeeded at every level to this point, and with the LVBP running through the end of December, he has ample time to continue that this winter.
