MILWAUKEE -- Four games after returning from a two-week stint on the disabled list with a shoulder injury, Brewers right fielder Domingo Santana is back on the 15-day DL.
This time it is soreness in his right elbow sidelining Santana, who has not played since Tuesday. The Brewers recalled outfielder Keon Broxton from Triple-A Colorado Springs to take Santana's place.
"This is the third day he's not able to do anything," manager Craig Counsell said. "Hopefully, it's going to be in that shorter range, but it's in that 10- to 15-day range that we need to get a healthy player here."
It has been a trying first full season in the Major Leagues for the 23-year-old Santana. He has a .347 on-base percentage but is batting .234 with four home runs and a .391 slugging percentage. He also rates near the bottom of the list of Major League right fielders in most defensive metrics, an area that was expected to be his strength.
"We just have to let it go away until we can get him out there with baseball action," Counsell said.
This is Broxton's third stint with the Brewers this season. The 26-year-old was a member of the Opening Day roster before being demoted and then recalled again in late May. He was hitless in his first 22 at-bats of the season before collecting his first career big league hit on May 25 in Atlanta.

Broxton is batting .105 with a .244 OBP, one double and three steals. He has struck out in 22 of his 45 plate appearances with Milwaukee this season.

• Starter Matt Garza made his final rehab start in his recovery from a strained right lat, meaning the Brewers will soon be facing another roster move. Counsell noted that a six-man rotation is possible for the short-term future.
"I think it's up for discussion," he said. "I think we'll get on the road trip and see how we're going to slot it."
