Shaw returns to lineup Tuesday after HBP

July 3rd, 2017

MILWAUKEE -- Brewers third baseman left Monday's 8-1 win over the Orioles at Miller Park for precautionary reasons. Shaw was in the lineup for Tuesday's afternoon game against Baltimore, as he predicted after the series opener.

"I'm good. I'll play tomorrow," Shaw said after Monday's game.

Orioles starting pitcher nicked Shaw on the left wrist in his second at-bat, loading the bases with Brewers with one out in the second inning. He was replaced by utility man in the top of the third.

Brewers manager Craig Counsell said Shaw's X-rays came back negative, with his status being day to day.

"He's doing well. I think we dodged something there. He's doing very well," Counsell said. "It swelled up pretty good and it was sore pretty good, so could he have kept playing? At that point, it was 7-0, I thought it was best that we get him out of there."

In his first at-bat Monday, Shaw lined a single to right fielder , scoring from third for the Brewers' first run of the game. Shaw leads the Crew with 60 RBIs this season, and was named the Brewers' Player of the Month for June, batting .279 with eight homers and 21 RBIs over 24 games.
