Nats trio to serve as All-Star Ambassadors

With the All-Star Game returning to Washington for the first time since 1969, Major League Baseball announced Tuesday that Nationals stars , Max Scherzer and will serve as the official MLB All-Star Ambassadors during the week of the event.
The 89th installment of the All-Star Game presented by Mastercard is set for July 17 at Nationals Park.
Scherzer and Zimmerman will represent the Nationals at GEICO All-Star FanFest at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, while Harper will help MLB and his team unveil a new youth baseball complex at Fred Crabtree Park on July 16 in Fairfax County, Va. All three players will be prominent throughout the city and on digital platforms via advertisements and promotional materials, and the first 3,000 FanFest attendees on select days will receive a bobblehead of either Zimmerman (July 13), Harper (July 16) or Scherzer (July 17).
Harper, a five-time All-Star and the 2015 National League MVP, has served as a face of the Nationals' franchise since he debuted as a 19-year-old in '12. Scherzer is the two-time reigning NL Cy Young Award winner and just recorded his 1,000th strikeout in a Nationals uniform Monday. Zimmerman was the Nationals' inaugural Draft choice after the franchise moved to Washington in '05 and has earned two All-Star Game selections.
