Posey's bruised foot doesn't keep him out

NEW YORK -- Giants catcher dispelled any fears about his bruised right ankle by starting Saturday's game against the New York Yankees, less than 24 hours after sustaining his injury.
"He got up this morning and said it felt pretty good," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. "It loosened up and he felt good to go."
Posey fouled a ball off the top of his back foot in the second inning of Friday's 3-2 loss to the Yankees, causing the bruise and prompting him to leave the game before the bottom of the fourth inning. X-rays taken of Posey's ankle revealed no fracture.
Posey, whose playing status was listed as day to day, has started 72 of San Francisco's 97 games behind the plate. He also has started six games at first base and four as a designated hitter.
