Buxton reaches out to young fan with kind gesture

December 22nd, 2022

While much of the United States gets hit with a wave of arctic weather causing temperatures to plummet below zero, here's a truly heartwarming story for you.

Upon hearing about 9-year-old Dylan Marette of Roseville, Minn., being severely assaulted by a bully at school last week, Twins center fielder became the latest pro athlete to send his well wishes, along with a special gift, to the youngster as he heals up.

According to Dylan's father, Brian, who has been posting periodic updates about Dylan's condition on Twitter, there were initial concerns about a concussion, a broken jaw, a cranial fracture and even bleeding on the brain. There was a concussion, but thankfully no jawbone or cranial fractures and no brain bleed, and it appears Dylan is going to make a full recovery.

Several members of the community -- and even two Minnesota Vikings players -- reached out to Dylan and his family, having them on the sidelines during their 39-36 overtime win over the Colts last Saturday.

When Buxton heard about what happened to Dylan, he sent him an autographed All-Star jersey, autographed cleats and a Buxton bobblehead as part of a gift package.

Buxton also tweeted that he hopes to see Dylan at Target Field soon. When the weather warms up again and springtime returns, here's hoping Dylan and his family have a great time watching Buxton and the Twins take the field.
