WASHINGTON -- The Braves have arrived at the Winter Meetings with a much different agenda than they had the past two years. Instead of standing as sellers in the early midst of a rebuilding process, they're now potential buyers who are attempting to determine how to best approach what has already been a very active offseason.
Braves president of baseball operations John Hart and general manager have already added three veteran pitchers to their new-look rotation. But as they spend this week mingling their peers who have come to Washington for these meetings, they remain open to the possibility of paying the steep price it would require to trade for a controllable, front-line starting pitcher.

Thus one year after highlighting the Winter Meetings by acquiring Dansby Swanson, Ender Inciarte and Aaron Blair from the D-backs in exchange for Shelby Miller, the Braves will also be linked to one of this year's top storylines, which centers on whether highly-regarded starting pitchers Chris Sale or Chris Archer will be traded.
MLB.com and MLB Network will have wall-to-wall coverage of the 2016 Winter Meetings from the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center outside Washington, D.C. Fans can watch live streaming of all news conferences and manager availability on MLB.com, including the Rule 5 Draft on Thursday at 9 a.m. ET.
Check MLB.com and braves.com regularly this week to find videos, podcasts and stories that will focus on this week's top storylines and provide a better understanding of what the Braves plan to do over the remainder of the offseason.
The Braves began the Hot Stove season in aggressive fashion, reaching agreements with former Cy Young Award winners R.A. Dickey and Bartolo Colon just a couple days after the free agent market opened. They remained active over the past two weeks while signing the versatile Sean Rodríguez and trading for left-handed starter Jaime García.
While it appears the cost for Sale and Archer will be too steep, the Braves will at least remain active this week while exploring the possibility of adding a catcher and looking at options to brighten their future.
