DETROIT -- Outfielder Cameron Maybin and reliever Alex Wilson are migrating north for the final step in their Minor League rehab assignments. The Tigers will transfer their assignments from Class A Advanced Lakeland to Triple-A Toledo, where the Mud Hens open a two-game series against Indianapolis on Tuesday night.
Both are on track to return in mid-April, according to Brad Ausmus. The Tigers' manager said during Spring Training that Maybin wouldn't head to Toledo until he was close to ready to be activated.
Maybin, out since early March recovering from a broken left wrist, went 3-for-13 with two doubles and two walks in Lakeland while alternating between outfield and designated hitter. That does not include any Minor League Spring Training games he played in.
Wilson, whose bout of rotator cuff capsulitis halted his Spring Training in late February, pitched two scoreless innings for Lakeland on Sunday after giving up three runs in an outing last week.
Blaine Hardy might soon join them on the road north. The lefty reliever, sidelined in mid-March with a left shoulder impingement, made his first appearance for Lakeland over the weekend and is scheduled to throw two innings Monday night before making two more appearances later in the week.
Lefty starter Daniel Norris, who opened the season on the disabled list following a lumbar spine fracture, made his first appearance for the Flying Tigers on Sunday, tossing two innings with a run allowed on two hits. He walked one and struck out four, throwing 26 of 39 pitches for strikes.
Norris will stay in Lakeland for his next outing later in the week, with a pitch count around 55 pitches.
