MILWAUKEE -- A day after suffering injuries in Friday night's loss to the Brewers at Miller Park, Cardinals left fielder Matt Holliday was a late scratch from Saturday's 8-1 win and reliever Trevor Rosenthal underwent testing on his left hamstring.
Right-hander Michael Wacha, who left Friday's game with a bruised right heel sustained on a comebacker, was feeling better Saturday.
St. Louis was hopeful that Holliday, who tweaked his left ankle rounding first base Friday and later exited the game, could start Saturday. The 36-year-old was batting third and playing left field in manager Mike Matheny's initial lineup, but was scratched for "precautionary reasons" less than an hour before first pitch. Holliday was available to pinch-hit Saturday, and Matheny hopes the veteran can start Sunday's rubber game.

Rosenthal was in street clothes and exited the clubhouse before Saturday's game, headed to receive tests on his left hamstring in Milwaukee and is listed as day to day. He'll likely avoid a stint on the disabled list, but will be re-evaulated Sunday. The right-hander exited in the ninth inning Friday with hamstring spasms. Matheny declared the veteran pitcher's status as day to day following the game, but events took a turn for the worse overnight.
"[Friday] night, he felt more like a cramp or a spasm, but today there's some lingering effects that tell us it's more than that, so we need to go get a look from doctors and see exactly what we're dealing with," Matheny said.
Functioning with a six-man bullpen with Rosenthal unavailable, Matheny is willing to use starters out in relief if need be with the All-Star break approaching.
