HOUSTON -- It was only a matter of time before Carlos Correa and George Springer joined in on the fun for the Astros.
After they went a combined 0-for-8 in Thursday's win over the Red Sox in Game 1 of the American League Division Series presented by Doosan, Springer went 2-for-5 with a homer and Correa went 2-for-4 with a homer and four RBIs to lead the Astros to an 8-2 win over the Red Sox on Friday and a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series.

"For us to come out and score off of those guys over there is obviously huge for us," Springer said of Red Sox starters Chris Sale and Thomas Pomeranz. "Those are two quality arms who have started the games, and we've been stringing along with some quality at-bats and scoring early."

Pomeranz recorded two outs to start the first before Jose Altuve -- a day after he hit three homers -- singled and Correa scored him with a 419-foot home run to left field. It was Correa's third career postseason home run.
"You've seen it throughout the whole season," Correa said. "One through nine, everybody can do damage, everybody can go deep. That's the good thing about our lineup, there's no holes in our lineup, and we feel very confident, no matter if we went 0-for-4 the day before or if we went 4-for-4."
In the sixth, Correa followed the second intentional walk to Altuve with a two-run double to mark the fourth time in Astros postseason history a player drove in at least four runs with at least two extra-base hits. Correa did in Game 4 of the 2015 ALDS against the Royals, when he hit two homers.
"To be honest with you, I came to the ballpark mentally prepared for that situation," Correa said. "[Altuve] hit three homers yesterday. He's the best hitter in the game right now, so I was expecting when first base was open, there were guys on base and in an important situation, he was going to get walked. So I came mentally prepared for it, and I was able to come through."

Springer grounded out in his first at-bat against Pomeranz on Friday before sending an 0-1 pitch into the right-field seats in the third to give the Astros a 3-1 lead. He doubled in the fourth, scored a run in the sixth and drew a walk in the seventh.
"You know, it shows the depth of our team," Springer said. "It's not the same guy every day, except it's always Altuve day. It's obviously good for us for the whole team to contribute."

Through two games in the series, the Astros are hitting .343 with a .686 slugging percentage, and they've hit six homers. They've outscored the Red Sox, 16-4.

"We have a lot of guys that are putting up really good at-bats," Astros manager A.J. Hinch said. "So where it fits in the whole spectrum is up to you guys, but we're pretty confident that when we put good at-bats together, we're going to score runs from a couple different spots of the order. Altuve still had a pretty good day. Four times on base. But other guys in our lineup are here to hit, too. It's nice to have that many threats throughout the order any given day."
