Blackmon likely to avoid DL for quad injury

April 13th, 2018

WASHINGTON -- Rockies center fielder Charlie Blackmon tested his right quad running in the Nationals Park outfield Friday evening before Colorado's game against the Nationals.
Though manager Bud Black didn't give a timetable for Blackmon's return, he said the center fielder is more likely to play in a game than go on the disabled list.
"We're encouraged by the process," Black said.
Blackmon has not played since Monday, when he went 1-for-3 with a single and two walks against the Padres. He was scratched from the lineup the following day.
Blackmon, the Rockies' usual leadoff hitter, owns a .282/.391/.641 slash line and has hit four homers and recorded six RBIs this season. Second baseman DJ LeMahieu has hit leadoff in Blackmon's place, and in Thursday's series opener against the Nationals he went 4-for-5 with two homers and four RBIs.
