PITTSBURGH -- Dodgers second baseman preserved Rich Hill's perfect game Wednesday night with a fully extended diving catch of Josh Bell's line drive leading off the bottom of the eighth inning.
Utley -- aka Silver Fox for Players Weekend -- laid out perfectly to snag Bell's line drive that was heading into right field and would have spoiled Hill's chance at history. Hill went on the retire the next two batters and took the perfect game into the ninth inning of a scoreless tie.
"It was a great play," said Hill. "To see him flying through the air, kind of have that image burned in my head. It's pretty cool."
Hill would lose the perfect game in the ninth on 's fielding error, and he lost the no-hitter on Josh Harrison's walk-off blast to lead off the 10th and give the Pirates the 1-0 victory.

"I think Chase Utley is a pretty prime example of a guy that relishes making a big play to save his pitcher in that situation," Pirates catcher said. "Laid out for that one ball. You've got to tip your hat for what he did."
