The Mets have agreed to a Minor League deal with veteran slugger , according to reports by MLB Network insider Jon Heyman and The Athletic's Will Sammon on Tuesday morning. The club has not confirmed the deal.

The 27-year-old Morel, who was released by the Marlins on Friday after playing 22 games with them this year, has played all three outfield positions as well as first base, second, third and shortstop throughout his big league career.

Morel has routinely ranked near the top of the Major League leaderboard in arm strength, placing in the 99th percentile with an average velocity of 96.6 mph as recently as 2023. That was also Morel's best season at the plate: He slugged 46 extra-base hits and drove in 70 runs across 107 games for the Cubs, posting an .821 OPS.

Morel has hit .220 with a .296 OBP and 74 homers across 499 Major League games with the Cubs, Rays and Marlins.
