Bellinger's 42nd HR in, and out of, Acuna's glove

Dodgers superstar snapped a three-way tie for the Major League home run lead with No. 42 in the first inning of Sunday's 5-3 Braves win over the Dodgers at SunTrust Park -- and it was very nearly just a long out instead.

Braves center fielder perfectly timed Bellinger's drive off Max Fried, leaping and even reaching the ball with his glove over the wall, but the ball appeared to bounce out of Acuna's glove as his arm was fully outstretched.

"I thought he caught that ball," said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. "He made a good effort, but fortunately for us it went out."

Bellinger was more confident than his skipper that Acuna's defensive efforts would fall just short, saying, "I could see it go over, so I knew right away it was out."

Acuna's narrow miss, which gave Los Angeles an early three-run lead, clearly frustrated last season's National League Rookie of the Year, who flipped his glove and put his hands on his hips as Bellinger crossed the plate.
