Texas keeps clutches on top spot in College Baseball Hall of Fame Power Poll

LUBBOCK, Texas – Despite taking its first loss of the season Sunday, Texas remains the unanimous choice as the No. 1 team in this week’s National College Baseball Hall of Fame Power Poll.

For the third straight week, Texas took all six first-place votes in this week’s poll after going 2-1 at the Houston College Classic at Minute Maid Park, beating No. 5 Tennessee, 7-2, and No. 6 LSU, 6-1, before falling to UCLA, 5-1.

After falling to Texas early, Tennessee came back to beat both UCLA and Oklahoma to jump eight spots in the power poll to No. 5. Also making a big leap is No. 9 Florida, which took a series against rival No. 24 Miami in Coral Gables over the weekend to rise 10 spots. The biggest drop this week went to TCU, which fell 10 spots to No. 22 after dropping two of three at Kentucky over the weekend.

Three teams off to strong starts this season make their debut in the poll this week – No. 19 North Carolina, No. 23 Purdue and No. 25 Tulane, which took two of three from defending national champion Mississippi State this weekend.

Dropped out: Maryland, Louisiana Tech, Oklahoma
Also receiving votes: Clemson 13, UCLA 12, Louisiana Tech 10, East Carolina 9, Arizona State 6, Sacramento State 5, Oregon 4, Texas A&M 3, Maryland 1.
