Montgomery's 1st career walk-off in extras secures White Sox sweep of Angels

CHICAGO -- 's first career walk-off single scored Miguel Vargas to give the White Sox a 3-2 victory over the Angels in 10 innings at Rate Field. The White Sox finished their first month at .500 or above since June 2023, completing a three-game sweep of the Angels.

After a 1-4 run in March, the White Sox finished April at 13-13, and they have won eight of their last 12.

Ryan Zeferjahn hit Tristan Peters with a 1-2 pitch with one out in the ninth to begin the game-tying rally, and Peters swiped second as Jarred Kelenic struck out. Sam Antonacci tied the game with a triple to right, but he was stranded there when Chase Meidroth grounded out.

Seranthony Dominguez pitched a perfect 10th to earn the victory, going with his seven saves by the end of April.

White Sox starter Erick Fedde was outstanding over seven innings, striking out six without a walk. He gave up solo home runs to Mike Trout and Vaughn Grissom, leaving the game with a 2-1 deficit.
