The 16th overall pick in the 2019 MLB Draft, Corbin Carroll forgoed his commitment to UCLA to join the organization. After a shoulder injury abruptly ended his 2021 campaign, Carroll has proven why he's one of the best prospects in baseball this season. Carroll already shows the plate discipline, hitting ability, speed and defensive prowess needed to become a big league star.

Aug. 28: D-backs calling up Carroll (source)
It turned out to be a rapid rise for outfielder Corbin Carroll after all, as the D-backs plan to call up their top prospect from Triple-A Reno for his expected big league debut Monday night against the Phillies at Chase Field, a source told MLB.com on Sunday. The club has not confirmed the move.

Carroll was selected out of Lakeside High School with the No. 16 overall pick in the 2019 Draft, and though he was young the D-backs thought he could move through their system quicker than most. Full story »

Aug. 26: Tough day at the plate
A day after crushing his 24th homer of the year, Corbin Carroll couldn't get it going at the plate, as he struck out five times in Triple-A Reno's loss to Sacramento. Despite going 0-for-5, he scored a run as the automatic runner in the 10th inning. Gameday »

Aug. 25: Crushes 463-foot bomb in monster game
Have yourself a day, Corbin Carroll. On the third pitch of the game between Triple-A Reno and Sacramento, Carroll smashed a 463-foot home run over the center-field wall, his seventh at the Triple-A level and 24th overall on the season.

The 21-year-old outfielder was far from done after that. Carroll would walk in each of his next four at-bats, scoring once and knocking in another run with a bases loaded free pass.

In the ninth inning, Carroll drove in another run with a double to right field. In all, Carroll reached six times, boosting his on-base percentage on the season to .424. Gameday »

Aug. 16: Doubles, steals base
Corbin Carroll enjoyed a solid game on Tuesday, as he went 2-for-4 with a double and a stolen base. It wasn't as pleasant for his Reno teammates, though, as they fell to Salt Lake. Corbin Carroll homered, doubled and singled in his first three at-bats on Sunday, finishing 3-for-5 for a second consecutive game during Triple-A Reno's 11-7 win. The 21-year-old has hit safely in nine of his last 10 games, increasing his average with the Aces to .310. Corbin Carroll and Triple-A Reno were firing on all cylinders on Saturday, as Carroll collect three hits, an RBI and a stolen base and the Aces beat Las Vegas, 12-3. Corbin Carroll is adjusting to Triple-A quite nicely. The D-backs top prospect swatted a ball into the right-field corner in his second at-bat for Reno on Thursday and raced all the way around for an inside-the-park home run against Salt Lake. July 16: Doubles, walks in Futures Game
How's this for a fast start? Leading off for the NL in the 2022 SiriusXM All-Star Futures game, Carroll laced a double off Rays top prospect Taj Bradley. He got a little overzealous, though, as he was thrown out trying to steal third later in the inning. He also worked a walk in his second plate appearance before being lifted in the fourth inning.

Corbin Carroll did it again. The 21-year-old homered in his second straight game Tuesday. This one was a three-run shot to left-center field to put Triple-A Reno up 3-1 in the third inning. July 10: Homers in Triple-A debut
In his first game with Triple-A Reno, Carroll, the No. 3 overall prospect in baseball per MLB Pipeline, launched a 414-foot home run and made a pair of sparkling defensive plays in a 3-2, 11-inning victory over Tacoma. The homer was his 18th of the Minor League season, and the defensive plays showcased both his glove and his arm -- in the seventh inning, he robbed Tacoma's Jarred Kelenic of a hit with a sliding grab in center field, and in the 10th, he prevented the go-ahead run from scoring with a throw to the plate to complete a double play. July 9: Added to Triple-A Reno roster
A day after homering during a multihit showing in his second rehab game with the ACL D-backs Red, Corbin Carroll was assigned to the Triple-A Reno Aces of the Pacific Coast League. The 21-year-old outfielder produced a .313/.430/.643 slash line with 16 homers and 20 steals over 58 games in his first taste of the Double-A level. July 8: Named to 2022 All-Star Futures Game roster
After climbing up to the No. 3 spot in MLB Pipeline's latest rankings, Corbin Carroll was named to the NL roster for the 2022 All-Star Futures Game. Carroll joins four other Top-10 prospects on the rosters. The D-backs rising star is the lone representative from the club. July 5: Carroll moves up on Top 100 re-rank
Corbin Carroll made a big leap on the updated Top 100 Prospects list, going from No. 12 overall to No. 3. The 21-year-old outfielder has been raking in the Texas League, racking up 16 homers and 20 stolen bases through 58 games for the Amarillo Sod Poodles.

June 15: Carroll stays hot, continues streak of triples
It has been an impressive month for Corbin Carroll.

Arizona’s No. 1 prospect is slashing .477/.558/.818 in June, with a triple in his last two games. Carroll expanded upon his recent impressive stretch going 1-for-3 with one triple in Double-A Amarillo’s 7-2 loss to San Antonio.

The 2019 first-round pick did not get what he was looking for in his first two at-bats, getting walked in the first inning and struck out in the third inning. He got his chance to showcase his bat and speed in the fifth inning, hitting a line drive to the left-center gap for a triple.

The 21-year-old’s recent stretch has brought his line up, slashing .330/.449/.660 on the season. -- Edwin Perez

June 9: Carroll hits long, long homer for Amarillo
Top prospect Corbin Carroll has been beating up on Double-A pitching, but his towering homer in Double-A Amarillo’s five-inning 11-10 win was something else.

The 21-year-old cranked his 14th dinger of the season a whopping 481 feet to right-center, good for a two-run blast. He added a walk and run scored in the first and an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth that ended up being the game-winning run before rain cut the game short. MLB’s No. 13 prospect is slashing .311/.433/.639 (1.072 OPS) with 28 extra-base hits, 34 RBIs, 34 walks and 19 steals in 42 games this year. -- Stephanie Sheehan

June 5: Carroll cranks 3-run HR in multihit night
Few things match the excitement of a walk-off home run. But a three-run blast to all but seal your team’s win in the eighth? That’s pretty good too.

And that’s exactly what Corbin Carroll did with Double-A Amarillo in its 8-4 win over Midland. The D-backs’ top prospect had already logged two hits and swiped two bags, but his 13th dinger of the season was the icing on the cake.

Carroll laced two singles in addition to the long ball and came around to score each time he was on base. He was a key part of the Amarillo offense in a back-and-forth contest, but his biggest moments came in the seventh and eighth innings. Full story »
