June 23rd, 2016

Ian Happ, the Cubs' top Draft pick in 2015, and rated by MLBPipeline.com as the No. 3 prospect in the team's system, has taken his next step up the organizational ladder, promoted to Double-A Tennessee of the Southern League on Thursday.
Originally selected ninth overall in 2015 as an outfielder, Happ converted to second base over the offseason and has put together an impressive first few months of the season at Class A Myrtle Beach of the Carolina League.
In 69 games at Myrtle Beach, Happ hit seven homers with 42 RBIs and a .296/.410/.475 slash line. The switch-hitter left Class A ball on a tear at the plate, going 10-for-17 with five RBIs over his last five games for the Pelicans.
Happ, a 21-year-old out of the University of Cincinnati, is rated the No. 67 prospect in all of baseball and the No. 3 second baseman by MLB Pipeline.
